FARADAY ROAD PROJECT

Another major step forward at our Faraday Road project, and what a transformation it is already becoming!

The plastering in the loft has now been completed, and the new skylights and large Velux windows are bringing an incredible amount of natural light into what was previously a very dark space. It is already one of my favourite parts of the house!

We are also well into the plumbing phase. The new water connection and upgrade with Thames Water has unfortunately caused around a three-week delay. We have had to work with several departments within the water company, including dealing with an urgent repair to the main stop valve just outside the property boundary. These delays have been frustrating, but they are completely outside the control of the construction team and our project management.

Despite this, the team is working at high pace to catch up.

🔧 What's happening now?

• All plumbing is being completed, including the central heating system and a new boiler.

• The boiler has ultimately been relocated to the new kitchen.

• A new hot-water tank has been incorporated into a cabinet outside the second-floor bathroom, providing useful additional storage.

• Repairs to the window frame and wall repairs for the first-floor bathroom have been completed.

• New bathrooms and kitchen installations coming next.

• The first phase of new flooring will soon begin in the kitchen, studio/utility room and first-floor corridor.

• The first-floor flooring will be completely renovated, together with new electrical wiring.

• We have chosen a luxury, durable wood-effect flooring for the first floor, while carpet will be used on the second floor.

The new kitchen is already looking warm, bright and inviting. It is a huge improvement on the tiny original kitchen, with enough space to accommodate a small table and chairs and, importantly, beautiful views towards the rear garden. 🌿

The bathrooms are also coming together nicely. We have carefully selected stylish materials while keeping a close eye on the budget and negotiating with a new supplier to achieve the best possible result without compromising the overall look.

The revised completion target is now the end of August rather than the beginning of August. This is not due to the construction company or our project management — it is the result of coordinating the new utility connections and external contractors.

There is still plenty to do, but the transformation is really starting to show, and we are very pleased with how Faraday Road is looking!
