Hermione Homes: Where Sustainability Meets Artful Living

Hermione Homes, led by the passionate Anna Quaranta, isn’t your typical real estate company. It’s a symphony of thoughtful design, respect for nature, and a commitment to creating homes that resonate with both heart and mind.

Natalia Giacomino is a prominent professional with international experience in architecture and urban design she is one of the architects we, at Hermione Homes, know well. Natalia is that kind of person that likes diving into the essence of things. She thinks that a well-designed space (in architecture) is not just functional but also, structurally, a piece of art. Architecture is a form of living sculpture, a harmonious blend that defines the intersection of art and science, where every line, curve, and material choice tells a story. These are the thoughts included in one of her recent articles: ‘The Intersection of Architecture and Sculpture - A Visionary Approach’

Crafting Ambiance

Soft Ambience: Imagine diffused ambient lighting - gentle, like a whispered secret. It creates calm and serenity, inviting introspection and peace.

Sharp Illumination: Conversely, direct, sharp light energises. It’s the spotlight on a stage, highlighting architectural features and awakening our senses. Each approach - soft or sharp - elicits a different emotional response from the occupants.

Accent Lighting as an Invisible Sculptor

Light defines and separates spaces within a house. It’s the invisible sculptor, shaping boundaries without physical walls.

Strategically placed windows and skylights orchestrate this dance, allowing rooms to breathe and converse with each other.

Materials and Their Dance with Light

Materials aren’t passive; they react uniquely to light.

Wood: its texture comes alive - the grain patterns, warmth, and tactile sensations - when sunlight filters through.

Metal: polished or brushed, it reflects light, adding a touch of glamour.

Glass: transparent or frosted, it interacts with light, adding depth and richness to the overall design.

Architecture as Living Sculpture

The architect Natalia Giacomino merges sculpture principles with her designs.

Form, texture, and the play of light and shadow, these elements create emotionally engaging spaces.

Inspired by modernist sculptor Brancusi, she infuses her work with bold minimalism and movement as shown in the picture below: displaying a bathroom inspired by a Brancusi sculpture.

Whether sipping espresso in a London flat or basking in the Puglian sun, Hermione Homes weaves art, precious materials, and respect for nature into every thread of our story. Feel free to have a look at our past blogs about our work with renovations and the use of high-quality materials.
